7, 2000) at Carrington Place, Matthews, after a period of declining health.
Born Oct. 4, 1914, in Rowan County, Mrs. Brown was a
daughter of the late Charles Rose and Roxanna Kirk Parrish.
Educated in the Rowan County schools, she was a
professional seamstress. She was a member of the Springfield, Va., Order of the Eastern
Star Chapter 169.
Her husband, Floyd E. Brown, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a brother, Harry Parrish, Salisbury.

Haywood Hilton Dutch
The funeral will be Sunday for Haywood Hilton Dutch, 56,
Salisbury, who died Thursday (April 6, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord.
Born July 16, 1943, in Rowan County, Mr. Dutch was a son of
the late Hartford Henry and Viola Lee Rogers Dutch.
A 1961 graduate of East Rowan High School, he also attended
Rowan Technical College (now Rowan-Cabarrus Community College). A veteran of the Merchant
Marine, he worked as a machinist at Philip Morris in Concord.
Mr. Dutch was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, Keller
Memorial Masonic Lodge 657, the Rowan County Shriners Club, York Rites & Scottish
Rites, and the International Association of Machinists.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Powell Dutch; a son,
Warren Dutch, Faith; daughters Cindy Dutch, Faith, and Christna Long, Beaufort; a stepson,
Matt Kyles, of the home; a stepdaughter, Ashley Kyles, of the home; brothers Jake Dutch,
Concord, and Kelley Dutch, Davidson; a sister, Bernice Efird, Rockwell; and one
grandchild.

Rena Goodnight Fink
CONCORD Rena Goodnight Fink, 92, 2106 Tremont Ave.,
died Friday (April 7, 2000) at Best of Care Rest Home.
Born Nov. 21, 1907, in Kannapolis, Mrs. Fink was a daughter
of the late John McCrea and Jennie Sims Goodnight.
She was a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church,
where she was a teacher in the No. 4 Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Betty
Hough Circle and the XYZ Club. She also conducted her own special ministry by visiting
shut-ins.
She worked for Concord Telephone Co. for 21 years before
retiring in 1972.
Her husband, Earl Pless Fink, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Mildred F. Ford and Phyllis F.
Rodgers, both of Concord; a sister, Ada Mae Goodnight Plott, Concord; seven grandchildren;
and four great-grandchildren.

LEXINGTON Donna Williams Freeman, 47, Lakewood
Drive, died Thursday (April 7, 2000) at her home after a serious illness of seven months.
Born April 11, 1952, in Rowan County, Mrs. Freeman was a
daughter of Robert Lee Williams, Spencer, and the late Helen Williams.
She was an administrative assistant at Lexington Middle
School and a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ, where she sang in the
choir.
In addition to her father, survivors include her husband,
Paul Freeman; a son, David Freeman, of the home; a daughter, Brianne Freeman, of the home;
and a sister, Luanne Rathbun, Southmont.

The funeral will be Monday for Benton Ben Avon
Glover, 84, Salisbury, who died Friday (April 7, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center

Born Dec. 15, 1915, in Stanly County, Mr. Glover was a son
of the late Daniel Webster and Bettie Almond Glover.
Educated in the Stanly County schools, he served in the
U.S. Army during World War II. Retired from Carter Chair Co., he was a member of the
American Legion.

Beatrice Allman Graham
KANNAPOLIS The funeral will be Sunday for Beatrice
Mae Allman Graham, 86, Big Elm Nursing Center, who died Thursday (April 6, 2000) at the
center after six months of declining health.
Born May 2, 1913, in Rowan County, Mrs. Graham was a
daughter of the late William A. and Etta Jane Mills Allman.
She graduated from the Rowan County schools. A homemaker,
she was a member of Back Creek Presbyterian Church.
Her husband, Frank E. Graham, died in 1985.

Morris Graham Johnston
MOORESVILLE Morris Graham Johnston, 82, Mooresville,
died Friday at his residence.
Born May 6, 1917, in Iredell County, Mr. Johnston was a son
of the late Robert Graham and Florence Alexander Johnston.
During World War II, he served with the 359th Fighter
Squadron of the 8th Army Air Force. Mr. Johnston was a retired dairy farmer and a member
of the Gideons . He was a lifelong member of Coddle Creek ARP Church, where he served as a
member of the session for 32 years.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary
Lib Elizabeth; sons Michael G. Johnston, Kingsport, Tenn., and Donald L.
Johnston, Mooresville; brothers Eugene Johnston, Winston-Salem, Phillip C. Johnston,

Born Aug. 31, 1936, in Davidson, Mrs. Overcash was a
daughter of the late Floyd and Flora Cathcart Brown.
A homemaker, she was a part-time employee at Winn-Dixie.
She was a long-standing member and secretary-treasurer of Chapter 1220-1513, Women of the
Moose.

Rev. Walter Grey Peeler
The funeral will be Monday for the Rev. Walter Grey Peeler,
83, Salisbury, who died Thursday (April 6, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center. He had
been in declining health for four years.
Born Oct. 15, 1916, in Rowan County, he was educated in the
Rowan County schools. He worked for N.C. Finishing Co. for 36 years and served as a supply
Baptist minister.
His first wife, Mary Parker Peeler, died Dec. 6, 1991.
Survivors include wife Willie Kluttz Peeler, whom he
married July 15, 1992; a stepson, Jimmy Brown, Salisbury; a brother, Guy Peeler, North
Carolina; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
